The future of last mile IPTV distribution in a neighborhood or a community lies in a combination of "Triple Play" technology and eliminating the need to run new CAT5/6 Ethernet or Fiber Optic cables by utilizing existing wire infrastructure available in the
residential housing. This combination allows Cable Operators to provide enhanced media-rich services over long distances at a fraction of the cost of traditional networking methods.
The "No New Wire" solution can distribute video, data and voice applications via cable infrastructure that already exists in buildings – coax, powerlines and/or twisted pair.
The following additional characteristics are possible over and above the traditional last mile distribution network.
- Long distance passive coverage (up to 2.5 km).
- Runs on existing wires (phone, coax, and power) with wireless coverage.
- Co-exist and interoperable with "running" transmissions like CATV and Satellite.
- No active devices on the infrastructure (routers, switches, hubs, repeaters, etc.).
- A mesh topology; no need in dedicated cable for each termination device/application, you can connect as many applications as you want to the same points in parallel.
- Interoperable with third party standard equipment.
- Supports several HDTV video streams and other media-rich hi-speed content.
- Guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS) ensures 100% delivery of content.
- Supports time sensitive, synchronous applications such as IPTV and VoIP.
- Fast to install, free from truck roll.
- Manageable & controllable & supportable edge devices from the CRM office.
- Dramatic reduction in duration of installation, hence significant cost savings compared to alternative options.
- Clean and non-disruptive installation.
- Low in maintenance.
IPTV over wireless
A unique integrated wireless Triple play point to multipoint system solution on the telecommunication market, provides microwave radio access to all the residential and business users in a radius of 15 and more km from every base station.
An operator (CATV, ISP, incumbent, others) is able to provide all the services that users are looking for today
Digital TV broadcast (more than 100 digital TV programs in DVD or HD quality at the same time).
- High-Speed Internet
- Pay per View
- Telemetry
- Video on Demand
The standards used in the system are the same as in bidirectional digital cable TV networks – DVB-T for TV broadcast and DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS for IP traffic (including VoIP). The downstream distributes TV and RA programs and IP traffic as in standard CATV network (the broadcast is similar to Satellite broadcast), upstream consist of IP traffic only (including VoIP) in the direction from the end user to the Main station, suitable for interactive IPTV connection.
